Neutral Spine
Esther, I keep reading in various places about how the spine should be in a "neutral position".  How does this relate to having the pelvis anteverted?  Are the two mutually exclusive?

There is disagreement about what an ideal arrangement for the pelvis is and there is a wide range of arrangements that people call "neutral." I use neutral to mean anteverted pelvis, though I tend not to use this word because it means different things to different people. Most people use "neutral" to mean a pelvic position that is tucked (retroverted) by my standards - sometimes slightly tucked and sometimes very tucked (see Arthur White, MD's "The Posture Prescription.")

Esther, I have Arthur White's book.  What is your take on it? Connie

Hmmm - I use images from his book "Posture Prescription" in my course to show how poor our current guidelines are...his examples of "good posture" look awkward, uncomfortable and unhealthy to me.
