Have you noticed if bad posture can cause a pinching pain that comes and goes in the lower right abdomen? (I don't have an appendix, so it's not that.) Oh, and gas too. I tend to forget my posture after several hours at the computer, and sit with legs crossed, twisted to the right. The muscles on the right side of my spine are very tight, and possibly pulling my hip out of alignment as well. The pain happens throughout the day, off and on.

Hi Dee,
Sub-optimal posture can cause a large variety of abdominal pain and problems. Keep in mind that you have 22 feet of small intestines, plus your large intestines and numerous other pelvic organs that all do best if they have their natural orientation, blood supply, volume, nerve innervation, etc. It's a wonder that we function as well as we do, given the systematic distortions we subject our bodies to 24/7. My recommendation is to cover all your bases rather than focusing on exactly which distortion is causing your particular pain.
Since it is difficult to discipline yourself to uncross your legs, for example, use the 8 Steps book to find an even more comfortable sitting position that will seduce your body away from the old twisted position.
I think this could be a fun project - you have a clear measure of how you are doing and have strong but not overwhelming motivation. Good luck!
