I was wondering how much the gokhale method can help with a herniation at the L5-S1 level. The movements and adjustments seem to be more geared towards higher up in the lumber region and the rest of the back.
Thanks, Robin

Hi Robin - What strikes me is that the herniation happened at L5-S1, at the bottom of the stack. The Gokhale Method can teach you how to elongate and reshape the higher levels of the spine, and that can in turn reduce the pressure on the bottom. The J-spine we teach encompasses every level of the spine, including L5-S1.
When there is a herniation, it's especially important to emphasize lengthening, such as with Stretchsitting and Stretchlying on the back. I encourage you to give it a try, using the book or taking lessons with a Gokhale Method teacher, who will be able to give you individualized tips.
Thanks for writing, and feel free to write again with more questions or an update.
