Herniated disk in neck
Hi Esther - I had benign positional vertigo which my doctor said was a result of stones in the ear getting out of the canal. She did a maneuver on my neck and told me to lie with my head on several pillows for a few nights to keep my head upright. I think it herniated a disk in my neck. I developed numbness, tingling and weakness in my left arm and leg, and now my right side as well. The chiropractor I saw said it could all be coming from the disk in the neck. Can a herniated disk in the neck cause problems in the legs too? I'm refocusing on the stretchsitting and stretchlying, which I grew lax on doing. Any advice would be appreciated. I'm miserable!

Oh no! A cervical disc herniation will cause problems in the upper body, not the lower. Once you have a significant problem anywhere though - the entire body goes into protective mode, muscles tighten to try avoid further injury (sometimes counterproductive), etc. Try to do gentle, soothing things - you're doing the right postural things; I would recommend acupuncture to reset the muscles.

Have you had clients come in with dizziness and numbness due to a herniated disk who apply your method for relief? If so, how long can it take to get rid of both problems?

The numbness comes from the herniation, but I doubt the vertigo does. Yes, we have plenty of people who come with numbness, tingling and pain and get better. How long varies - 1 day to a few weeks. It's not possible to be more precise than that.
