Reasonable Expectations?
I am in my first week of the six week course and I have high hopes of success. I was diagnosed with lumbar stenosis perhaps three years ago. The pain has progressed to the point that I can only stand or walk for six or seven minutes without having to sit or squat for pain relief. Only spinal injections of cortisone have ameliorated the discomfort and then not every time. It is time for me to schedule another injection, but since it is so invasive, I am considering acupuncture. My only experience with it was as pain relief for my dog's final months. (He was a stoic old guy, so I don't know how much I can extrapolate to my condition.) Please inform me of what I might expect from acupuncture therapy.

In conjunction with this work, it can do wonders. it can relax muscles (and allow better stretchlying and stretchsitting), reduce inflammation, and ease the transitions into your new posture. The good part of acupuncture is that all the side effects are positive. And if it isn't working, you'll know in a few sessions and there's no great harm done. Cortisone shots are much stronger - good if you really need them, but in my opinion, shouldn't be a first resort. If all goes as it usually does, by around Lesson 4 you won't be asking this question! Please keep us posted.
